Canibus Mentions 2Pac
Interview with Canibus, mentions Pac and The "Outlawz"
AHH: What is your view on the current state of hip hop in 2002? What in particular do you dislike and what would you like to see more of? Also, what artists are you currently feeling?
C: Hip Hop music has evolved so much since the early 80's when I was a youngin'. The innovators of urban street language (Kool G-Rap, Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, Rakim, Run DMC, Redman, K-Solo, The Def Squad, The Hit Squad, Big Jaz, Jay-Z, Special Ed, Craig G, Stetsasonic, The Silver Surfer, Bambata, Grandmaster Caz, The Cold Crush Brothers, Melle Mel, Full Force, Whodini, Ice-T, Moe Dee, Cool J, The GZA/genius, The Roots, Bizmarkie, LONS, Blacksheep, The Fugees, Main Source, Public Enemy, and Mantronix) in no particular order of course. Those are just some of the influences that made me a true believer that the art form of rap was here to stay. The 90's elevated the art form with gifted rebel poets like Nas, Buckshot, Biggie, Big L, Tupac, The Outlaws, NWA, and Wu-Tang among many other greats that made lasting impressions when coupled with more aggressive marketing and promotion techniques.
