Tupac Nominated For Source Award
The Source Awards nominee list came out this week. In all the main stream articles it was not pointed out that Tupac is nominated for Single of the Year (Male) nomination for “Thugz Mansion”. Closer inspection of the listing shows “Thugz Mansion” – Tupac feat. Anthony Hamilton (Producer: 7 Aurelius). Notice this is not the "Thugz Mansion" version feat. Nas.
The Source web page has this post " Slain hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur also received a Single of the Year (Male) nomination for “Thugz Mansion” off his posthumous release Better Dayz. E.D.I.of The Outlawz added, “I feel really good about his nomination…it’s long overdue…’Pac’s influence on hip-hop…is undeniable… I hope he wins…”
The 'competition' in this catagory is:
Single of the Year – Male Solo Artist
“In Da Club” - 50 Cent (Producer: Dr. Dre)
“Hot In Herre” – Nelly (Producer: Neptunes)
“Rock the Party” – Benzino (Producer: Mario Winans)
“Thugz Mansion” – Tupac feat. Anthony Hamilton (Producer: 7 Aurelius)
“Good Times” – Styles (Producer: Swizz Beatz)
The Awards will take place in Miami on October 13th and air in primetime during sweeps on BET on Tuesday, November 11th, 2003 at 8:00 pm (ET/PT).
